Aaliya is now a whopping 7.6kgs!

So you can bet the muscles on her Iboo’s arms. Her iboo can’t really feel Aaliya’s weight anymore since she’s gotten used to it. But don’t worry. She’s getting taller too. Aaliya. Not her Iboo.

Hehe.

And Aaliya’s duit koleksyen for this 2 weeks is a few dollars short of half-a-K. That’s way more than what Iboo got when she was a kid. =p

When shall we go shopping again, Iboo?

Hehe.

Aaliya turned 4-months old yesterday. She ‘talks’ more these days and also, smiles and laughs more. There’s nothing more soothing than seeing her smile after a rough day at work. And these are some of the other things she can do now.

Hehe. Yeah. She sat for 15 minutes through a Dora episode(with the occasional turning here and there to look at other things, of course. She’s very, very the active. Loves looking around when we bring her out. Eyes roving around looking at anything and everything). Needless to say, bought her a Dora bag for Hari Raya.

Speaking of Hari Raya, next post will be about her first Raya. Stay tuned. =)

Aaliya ’says’……(dont’ forget the volume =)

Syaimah Aaliya Binte Mohammad Shaifudin.

People have naturally been asking us about Aaliya’s name. How it came about and what it means and all. It’s kinda difficult to explain her name without breaking out into a history story.

Anyways, Dy & I decided to have an ”S” & “A” for her name. So, we asked Dy’s ustaz, Ustaz Ahmad Ismail, to help us find a name beginning with “S”. Alhamdullilah, the name Syaima’ was given to us. Syaima’ was the name of one of the ladies who had looked after Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. She was the daughter of Halimatus Saadiah. So, from there, we took the name Syaimah, which also means, observer. Coincidentally, Dy is called “Shaiful” by his family which kinda ties up his and her name.

For the “A” part, it was my decision. Since my mum, sisters & I have “A” at the start of our nicknames, mine being “Anis”, I wanted it for her as well. Aaliya is a name I have always liked. It means tall or noble. Although I have a friend who has a similar name, albeit different spelling, I really didn’t mind having that name for my daughter. Besides, that friend of mine is such a giggly and cute person. Hehe.

So, there you have it.

She gave me the fright of my life when I woke up yesterday morning.

I woke up to the sound of her “Urgh, ah, urgh” the way she does when she’s trying to get out from being too confined.

And, to my horror, her face was already under the big pillow I put on her legs to keep her warm!

So you can imagine, from 12 o’clock position, she did a 90 degree turn to 3 o’clock, and got herself there.

This is bad.

This is baaaaad.

Tsk.

No more pillows for you, young lady.

Ever since she was born, we noticed that Aaliya liked to stick out her tongue a lot. It’s not as if her lips are dry or something, it’s just that she simply likes sticking it out.

Last week, she decided to try a new way of pacifying herself. Instead of sucking on the pacifier while it was IN her mouth, she decided to let it fall to her chin and licked it instead. I tried putting it back in her mouth but her tongue pushed it back out and she gave it some vigorous licking action!

When she doesn’t have her pacifier with her, she’d do this.

Instead of a thumb, she puts her whole fist in and sucks. Hee. It keeps her occupied, so we don’t really have much to say about it. Except that, sometimes she has that disgusted look on her face when her hand tastes salty or something. Haha.

And as for sleeping, well, let’s just say she’s becoming more ‘nakal’ than she already is lor.

There really is no point of me swaddling (or bedung-ing) her cos’ this Incredible Hulk of a little girl will always free herself out. So I usually put our adult-size pillow on her legs.

And since she has started doing this,

I’m guessing, I’ll have to put her between us when we sleep. Normally, the 3 of us sleeps in the order which puts me in the middle. But I guess, we’ll have to change that soon, with her legs getting stronger and all.

And did I mention she loves watching TV ? *winks*
